Helloooo friends and lovers,
Welcome to my purse! Other than no cash, old lip-gloss, receipts, and cigarettes (KIDDING!), I wanted to share what I always keep on me. As we all know I’m overly fixated with my skin care and looking 20 years old forever, so I figured I’d drop the routine. I also recently started getting facials at Glow Bar in Chestnut Hill, MA and was instantly in love. If you have one in your city- go! They’re 30-minute facials for half the price of a med spa, and the recommendations are amazing. I got a few of their recommended products, so I wanted to share those as well as some of my other favorite products.
Now that I’m in an office every day, my routine has changed a bit. I need a tinted moisturizer, so I don’t look like a gremlin, and have to take more care of my skin now. I used to wear a lot of makeup a couple years ago daily but hated how I broke out from it, and it dried my skin out. Now during the week, I try to keep it light and airy, and then on the weekends I’ll do makeup to look like an absolute smoke show. Here is the routine for AM:
Toner: Any Paula’s toner is my favorite. Thayer’s is also a great choice. Target or Amazon are your besties for these!!!
Tinted Moisturizer: This is a must have for me on office days. I find that full coverage foundation makes me greasy and break out if I wear it daily, so a tinted moisturizer feels more on brand.
I love Summer Fridays Sheer Skin Tint {WITH HYALURONIC ACID + SQUALANE
ilia foundation stick- this is one of my new favorites. It feels less aggressive than a full-coverage foundation.
Laura Mercier Tinited Moisturizer with SPF is a good one too.
Some days I’ll just use a Vitamin C brightening serum and throw a regular moisturizer on top. Here are my all-time Vitamin C brightening serum faves:
1. Tula Brightening Treatment Drops
2. iS Clinical Active Serum (I’m a snob but this is one of the best)
3. The Ordinary Alpha Arbutin 2% + HA
4. For my dark eye bags- I like to use Tula Brightening Eye stick. It’s life changing.
5. For under eyes- you can also use The Ordinary Caffeine solution 5%.
AM moisturizer picks:
1. Laneige: Water Bank Line. I love any of the water bank moisturizers, whether gel or cream. You can't go wrong!!
2. Dermologica Intense Moisture Balance
3. Summer Fridays Cloud Dew Gel Cream
AM Makeup Picks: (Charty prefers a natural make up look so these products are very light and simple)
1. Lancome Monsuier Big Mascara
2. Covergirl Clump Crusher mascara (for a natural look).
3. I swear by Benefit Eyebrow Gel Hold daily to fluff my brows up as well.
4. Glossier Futuredew Facial Serum: If you take nothing else from this article, Glossier’s futuredew is my SAVING GRACE. It gives me a subtle glow, isn’t greasy, and makes me just look brighter in the mornings. I love this product. (Does Glossier want to sponsor me?)
The nighttime routine is more intense if you will. I need my skin and products to marinate every night, so I wake up looking like a newborn baby.
Cleanser! My recommendations are either:
3. iS Clinicals’ Cleansing Complex is also great.
Nighttime Serum Picks:
Sunday Riley Good Genes Serum
Lancome Advanced Genifique Serum
Claudalie VinoHydra Hydrating Serum
iS Clinical Hydra-Cool Serum (this one is chefs kiss)
Sofie Pavitt Mandelic Clearing Serum (don't overuse this one since it's an exfoliant)
Nighttime Moisturizer:
1. Anything from morning moisturizers can be used at night. I try to do a cream-based moisturizer for extra hydration overnight.
Extra Credit! (Oils and Balm)
I finish off the nighttime routine with an oil serum to really get that soft, glowy look.
3. The Ordinary Plant Derived Squalane
5. Beef Tallow Balm: Okay I just factored this into my routine and I’m LOVING IT. I wake up looking like I just came home from being born at the hospital. Any brand/kind works, I found it on Amazon for a cheap amount!
Charty’s Makeup Picks (for fun!)
Here’s a few of my favorite makeup brands and some products I can’t live without. (Disclaimer: I don’t wear eye shadow or eye liner lol)
1. ilia: They are one of the best, clean makeup brands. You can’t go wrong with any of their products! Foundations are the best as is the blush/gloss stick.
2. Saie: I just started using their products this summer and I really like them. Vegan, non-toxic, clean makeup! It’s not too expensive, and I love the highlighter as well as bronzer stick.
3. Laura Mercier Foundation: Real Flawless Foundation
4. Concealer: ilia True Skin Serum or Laura Mercier Weightless Flawless Foundation
5. Eyebrows: Anything Benefit brand or Anastasia. I used to be too aggressive with my brows back in 2017, but now I just use a pencil sometimes if I’m feeling wild. Other than that- just a classic brow hold gel.
6. Mascara: Rare Beauty, Lancome Monsieur Big, Clinique Mascara, or Benefit BADgal Bang! Mascara.
7. Bronzer: Saie stick or Becca bronzing palette!
8. Highlighter (personal favorite): Becca Shimmering Skin Pressed Highlighter or Anastasia Loose Highlighter. I also use my Glossier Dew Drops sometimes to go out!
9. Lipsticks: Anything BareMinerals, Clinque gloss, etc.
Here's a lookbook of me slaying. Massive kiss for me. Any and all skin or makeup questions, just put me on the horn! (that means phone)
X,
Charty
